Practical advice for Gothenburg
Gothenburg has a more decentralized queue system than Stockholm. Boplats Göteborg coordinates many but not all landlords — register there first. Then register separately with private landlords (Stena Fastigheter, Trianon). For Chalmers/GU students: SGS Studentbostäder is the main student foundation with ~10 000 apartments.

Is Boplats Göteborg free?
Boplats costs 200 SEK/year (incl. VAT) from the year you turn 22. Since 1 January 2026 it is completely free for 17-21 year olds, so register as early as possible — queue days count from registration day. Note that Boplats does not cover everything: Stena Fastigheter, Wallenstam, Balder and Heimstaden run their own free queues alongside it.
How does Volvo employee housing work?
Volvo provides relocation support for international hires including temporary furnished apartments for 3-12 months while you build queue points. Most expats transition to Boplats Göteborg or private rentals after the relocation period.
